26th Introduction to strawbale building.
A one-day course for those new to strawbale building, whether experienced
builders, self-builders or those wanting a greater understanding of the benefits of strawbale and natural building. It is also a great opportunity for gaining practical experience in our own workshop.
Fees: £40/65/80 / person (unwaged/waged/high-waged)

27th Planning and Preparation for self builders.
This one day course looks at aspects of the procedures concerning planning and associated preparation for self builders with their own straw bale projects. Participants can expect an introduction to the different regulatory bodies involved in house building, an overview of the planning system and its priorities, an introduction to the planning application processes, an overview of building regulations, an overview of the code for sustainable homes, an insight into designing your own home.
Fees: £100 per person

28th High Performance Buildings – strawbale and natural materials
A one-day course for Architects, Surveyors and housing professionals actively employed in building, construction, design, inspection and planning. The object of the day is to examine the benefits of high performing natural materials in construction and their appropriate use in carbon zero and zero-energy-in-use design and build. Amazonails’ new passive solar, super-insulated, affordable and sustainable design solutions will be placed in the context of current statutory / industry standards and research findings. The day will demonstrate through lectures and some practical work, selected case studies and various options available for commercial, private client and affordable housing association solutions.

1st Dec – 5th Dec ‘Build a mini-house in 5 days’, Todmorden.

9th - 12th December:: Clay and Lime Plastering
This 5 day course will cover the basic background and applications of clay and lime use in buildings. This course is for building contractors, professional plasterers & total beginners, provides a great opportunity to experience and assess the remarkable benefits of plastering with natural clay finishes. The object of the course is to learn about clay and clay plasters and where, why and how to use clay plaster in your own buildings.
